Steven Seagal poses for fist-pump photo with Duterte

Known for playing strong characters in film and television, Hollywood action star Steven Seagal met President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, October 12.

The actor-martial artist, during his courtesy call in Malacañang, is seen chatting with the president, and even doing the signature fist-bump gesture with the president.

Seagal, 65, is in the country to reportedly scout for a location for his new film “about illegal drugs and other crimes”.

Telling the actor that movies are a “reflection of life”, Duterte welcomed the film’s concept, reiterating his stance against illegal drugs.

Seagal, who was accompanied by close friend and former Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson, is also in the country as one of the judges of the Miss Earth pageant early November.

“He’s a long-time friend of ours because he is a staunch supporter of the environment. He has been campaigning for the protection of Mother Earth since 1990s,” Lorraine Schuck of the Miss Earth Foundation was quoted as saying.

It’s not the first time the Hollywood A-lister spent time in the Philippines.

Seagal visited the county during the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and, again, in 2016 when Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III was president.

The American actor is known for his blockbuster action films including “Above The Law”, “Hard to Kill”, “Marked for Death”, and “Out for Justice”.
