The Filipina who became an instant millionaire in the UAE after winning Dh1 million in Big Ticket Millionaire Raffle said she would share the prize with 15 other people and her children in the Philippines.
Leilani Quijano Del Rosario, a 47-year-old nurse in Abu Dhabi, told local newspapers here that 15 people contributed to buy the winning raffle ticket which cost Dh500.
She said that only Dh200,000 or more than P2 million will be her total share.
“I am sharing the ticket with 15 friends but I am the major contributor for the ticket so my share will be Dh200,000 from Dh1 million and the rest will be distributed among the other 15 shareholders,” Gulf News quoted her.
The new millionaire told the media that money will go to her loans in the Philippines and her children’s education.
Del Rosario, a single mother, left her children back home 14 years ago to try her luck in finding better opportunities in the UAE.
“My two kids are studying back in the Philippines while a third one has started working. This amount will help in repaying my loans and help my students in pursuing their higher education. I am managing the affairs alone and this amount will help me immensely,” Khaleej Times quoted Del Rosario as saying.
This is the second time she won in a raffle draw, the Filipina revealed. She also won a Volkswagen Touareg in another raffle draw in 2015.
The Filipina is one of the ten lucky winners of Big Ticket Millionaire Raffle in Abu Dhabi. Other winners included one Canadian and eight Indians.
