TESDA to conduct onsite skills assessment for OFs in Middle East

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is set to conduct an onsite assessment to overseas Filipino (OFs) in the Middle East.

This Onsite Assessment Program (OAP) aims to determine if the OFs possess the competencies required in their preferred work.

TESDA told the Philippine News Agency that its representatives will conduct the onsite assessment from April 26 to May 7.

In coordination with the Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLO), the assessment will be held at Comsofil in Riyadh; POLO, Dubai; ICSA, Kuwait City and Total Care International in Jeddah.

OFs may visit the POLO in the said areas. Jeddah and Dubai have already submitted a list of assessment candidates, according to Mamondiong.

They may take the assessment in the following qualifications: Technical Drafting NC II; Visual Graphics Design NC II and Computer Systems Servicing NC II for Riyadh. In Dubai, Technical Drafting NC II, Visual Graphics Design NC III, Massage Therapy NC II and Caregiving NC II.

The following qualification of assessment are included in Kuwait: Technical Drafting NC II, Visual Graphics Design NC III and Computer Systems Servicing NC II. In Jeddah, meanwhile, assessment will include Massage Therapy NC II and Caregiving NC II.

TESDA Director General Guiling Mamondiong highlighted that through this program, the agency can contribute in bringing the OFs “out of low skilled, low paying and oppressive service work”.
