Human trial of UAE’s possible COVID-19 vaccines underway

UAE’s Minister of Health Abdul Rahman Al Owais has revealed on Monday that the third stage of clinical trials for a possible COVID-19 are well underway.

In a press briefing on Monday, Al Owais said that this stage includes conducting a study on two types of vaccinations, which will involve more than 15,000 volunteers.

This came after the Ethics Committee Scientific research in Abu Dhabi approved the human trial of the possible vaccines.

The health minister said the success of this stage could lead to the start of the manufacturing stage.

Al Owais announced this together with the launch of the statistical platform for COVID-19 data in the UAE, a joint cooperation among the health ministry, the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority and the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority.

The platform seeks to promote a culture of transparency and sharing of reliable information and data on COVID-19.
