61-year-old Filipina nurse dies of COVID-19 in California

A 61-year-old Filipina nurse died while working in the frontlines against coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Celia Lardizabal Marcos died on April 17, two days after she tested positive for the respiratory disease.
Marcos worked at the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angles, California since 2004.
“It was definitely heartbreaking… She passed away alone, without family by her side,” her son, John Marcos told KTLA 5.
“The hospital she was admitted in, it was also the hospital she was working in, so at least there were coworkers who knew her,” he added.
John bared that her mother is only using surgical masks for protection due to shortage of personal protective equipment.
“Regardless of the danger she was in, she would always worry about others,” he said adding that her mother is working directly with COVID-19 patients.
“She knew they needed her and that was all she needed as a reason,” he said.
John added that he will bring his mother’s ashes back to the Philippines to give her proper memorial.
