Two NBA players test positive for COVID-19

Two NBA players from Utah Jazz have tested positive for COVID-19 that has infected 128,000 and killed more than 4,700 people worldwide.
Rudy Gobert of Utah Jazz first tested positive before their game in Oklahoma City on March 11.
Gobert was not in the arena for the game but his Utah Jazz teammates were reportedly quarantined temporarily at the Chesapekae Energy Arena while awaiting testing.
When the tests came out, Utah Jazz guard Donavan Mitchell came out positive of the COVID-19.
Gobert’s diagnosis prompted the NBA to abruptly announce suspending the current season for at least 30 days.
The NBA has also asked teams that played with Utah Jazz in the past 10 day to stay at home. Around 20 percent of NBA players are reportedly under self-quarantine.
In an Instagram post, Gobert apologized to those whom he “may have endangered.”
“At the time, I had no idea I was even infected. I was careless and make no excuse,” Gobert said.
He said “fear, anxiety, embarrassment” overwhelmed him since he was tested positive of COVID-19.
“I hope my story serves as a warning and causes everyone to take this seriously. I will do whatever I can to support using my experience as way to educate others and prevent the spread of this virus,” he added.

I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of concern and support over the last 24 hours. I have gone through so many emotions since learning of my diagnosis…mostly fear, anxiety, and embarrassment. The first and most important thing is I would like to publicly apologize to the people that I may have endangered. At the time, I had no idea I was even infected. I was careless and make no excuse. I hope my story serves as a warning and causes everyone to take this seriously. I will do whatever I can to support using my experience as way to educate others and prevent the spread of this virus . I am under great care and will fully recover. Thank you again for all your support. I encourage everyone to take all of the steps to stay safe and healthy. Love.

Mitchell said being COVID-19 positive made him learn “more about the seriousness” of the disease.
“Hopefully people can continue to educate themselves and realize that they need to behave responsibly both for their own health and for the well being of those around them,” he wrote in his Instagram post.

Meanwhile, Sixers legend and broadcaster Charles Barkley said he’s been feeling under the weather after travelling from New York City to Atlanta.
He told “NBA on TNT” broadcast that he is under 48-hour quarantine while awaiting for the result of the coronavirus test.
