Around 70,000 Filipinos in Italy are now affected by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak in Italy after the government imposes a lockdown on different regions to contain the virus.
In a GMA News report, over 6,000 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19. Six hundred twenty-two have recovered and 366 have died.
There are about 60,000 Filipinos in Italy’s Lombardi region. The Italian government has decided to lockdown over four regions due to COVID-19.

Authorities estimate around 16 million people to be affected by the lockdown.
This means that people are prohibited from going in and leaving the red zone, unless they are residents.
Bars and restaurants remain open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m, while recreational establishments like theaters, cinemas, discos, bars are closed.

The Philippine Embassy in Rome assured Filipinos that they are closely monitoring the situation in Italy.
