Coronavirus death toll in China climbs to more than 1,000

The Hubei Provincial health Commission reported on Tuesday that the number of fatalities from the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV ARD) has reached 1,016 with 108 new deaths reported.
China’s National Health Commission recorded 2478 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infection bringing the total number to 42, 638 cases.
The 2019 nCoV is believed to have originated from Wuhan city in Hubei province where live animals are sold.
On Monday, Chinese President Xi Jinping met medical workers and patients affected at a hospital in Beijing.
He said “more decisive measures” should be implemented to contain the outbreak, the state broadcaster CCTV reported.
