WHO confident that China can contain Wuhan coronavirus

The World Health Organization (WHO) director-general announced on Tuesday that China has the ability to control the spread of the new coronavirus.
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus held a meeting in Beijing and approved the Chinese government’s move to contain the outbreak.

The death toll from the virus has climbed to 132 in China and has affected thousands in other countries.
The WHO called the epidemic “an emergency in China” last week but did not call it a global public health emergency.

Tedros said he does not advocate the evacuation of foreign nationals currently in China, and urged people to stay calm.
The United States, France, Japan, South Korea and Morocco have said they will evacuate some citizens from Wuhan City.
The Philippine government is also set and ready to repatriate Filipinos from the city.
