Dubai to unveil ‘Dubai Stars’ next week

Dubai’s very own Walk of Fame will be unveiled to the public on October 20.

The Dubai Stars on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard will be a “walkable tribute, honouring the world’s exceptional achievers who have left an indelible mark on the world,” according to Emaar.

This will feature 400 plaques, which have been voted by the public.

Once completed, this will soon feature 10,000 Dubai Stars in Downtown Dubai.

The unveiling, in a report from The National, will coincide with the One Year to Go concert, marking a year until Expo 2020 Dubai.

Hussain Al Jassmi, who will be one of the performers at the Downtown Dubai event, is also a recipient of a Dubai Star.

Other famous faces who have already been honored with a Dubai Star are Huda Kattan, Mohamed Salah, and Priyanka Chopra.

The first to receive a Dubai Star is Lebanese singer Elie Saab. This was revealed at a ceremony in April this year during the launching of Saab residences, a collaboration between the Lebanese fashion powerhouse and developer Emaar.

The voting has started since May.

Ahmad Al Matrooshi, managing director of Emaar Properties, said the Dubai Stars further highlights the commitment of making Dubai “the best city in the world, and to promoting arts, culture and sports by saluting the stars, whose contributions continue to inspire the world”.
