A starfish-shaped new airport has opened in Beijing and is projected to become one of the busiest air terminals in the world.
The airport was opened on Wednesday by no less than Chinese President Xi Jin Ping.
Xi said that the airport coincides with China’s 70 year celebration of communist rule.
Located south of Tiananmen Square, the Beijing Daxing International Airport hopes to operate in full capacity in 2040 and is expected to receive 100 million passengers per year.
The project costs 120 billion yuan or Dh62 billion.
