Seven crew members from detained British-flagged oil tanker Stena Impero have been released, Stena Bulk confirmed on Twitter.
There was no immediate comment from the Department of Foreign Affairs Manila whether the lone Filipino seaman captured by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards was among the seven crew members.
The oil tanker was captured on July 19 by IRG after passing through the strait at the mouth of the Gulf.
Erik Hanell, President and CEO of Stena Bulk said: “Stena Bulk and Northern Marine Management can confirm that seven crew members of the Stena Impero have been released and are now travelling to a safe location.”
