The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has blacklisted 21 foreign recruitment agencies and direct recruitment firms. 19 local agencies were suspended or had their licenses cancelled due to continuous violations.
POEA Administrator Bernard Olalia said that this is part of the government’s move to make sure that Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) are protected from the hands of abusive recruitment agencies.
“Those meted with suspension, fine or cancellation of licenses were found to have violated recruitment rules from January to July,” the POEA said in a statement.
The POEA had to disclose the list to make the public aware, especially those seeking employment overseas, of the erring agencies.
