Filipino workers in HK helping each other amid protests

Filipinos in Hong Kong are helping each other amid massive protests happening in different parts of the city.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, some Filipinos said they have been utilizing social media and other online messaging applications to update each other about the protests.

Filipino OFW Edward Bareto gets his update from online messaging app to get the latest about the protests.

OFW driver Marvin Reyes said Filipinos are exchanging photos to update each other on the traffic situation resulting from the street protests.

“‘Yung mga kapwa namin driver nagkaroon din kami ng mga video, ng mga picture para hindi na kami makakadaan doon sa mga traffic na situation,” Reyes told ABS-CBN News.

Looming protests will include the Central Station where most OFWs spend their day-off on Sundays.

The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong advised Filipinos to stay away from street protests.

Filipinos are also prohibited from joining political activities as this may lead to visa cancellation.
