DND to conduct independent investigation on missing Saudi aviation student

The Department of National Defense (DND) is currently conducting a separate investigation on the missing 23-year-old Saudi aviation student.

The DND announced on Friday that they are now looking into the case of Abdullah Khalid Al-Sharif who went missing while on a training flight in Occidental Mindoro, together with his instructors Capt. Jose Nelson Yapparcon last May 17

The separate investigation that’s currently being conducted by the Philipines’ DND was upon the request of Saudi Ambassador to the Philippines Dr. Abdullah Al-Bussairy, as per a report from Arab News.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenza said that they are doing their own investigation of the case.

Lorenzana said that he had a meeting with Ambassador Al-Bussairy and the latter told him that they were able to uncover some documents that might help in bringing closure to the accident.

Lorenzana said that nothing was recovered even the plane from the accident.

On speculation that Al-Sharif might be kidnapped considering he is a foreigner student, Lorenzana said that it was also a case raised by the Saudi envoy and the DND is looking into that.
