850 MRT passengers offloaded during morning rush

Not a good morning for around 850 passengers of Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) train after they were offloaded from the train due to door malfunction Wednesday morning.

Passengers were unloaded around 6:32am at Shaw boulevard station from a MRT-3 northbound train.

According to the management, a train with defective doors cannot move or gain traction.

Passengers were able to board the next train that arrived minutes later.

The management said they are still investigating the incident but the door malfunction may be caused by “stress on door components caused by leaning on the door or forcing it open.”, thus passengers were reminded not to lean door or force it to open, as per a report from Inquirer.

MRT3 said the stranded passengers were immediately transferred to the next train, which became immediately available around in two minutes.

Last Monday, MRT3 started allowing free rides to students from 5 to 6:30am, and 3:00 to 4:30pm.
