A male fetus was found in a garbage bin inside a restroom of a passenger vessel.
The fetus, estimated to be around seven months old, was discovered by the crew at about 8 a.m. yesterday morning while they were cleaning the M/V Sunriser II as it was docked at the Getafe port in Bohol province.
According to Getafe Police Station, the ferry came from Cordova, Cebu bound for Getafe town in Bohol.
Police clarified that according to the Municipal Health Office, the fetus found was a case of stillbirth and not abortion.
Few hours after the incident was reported, the mother claimed the fetus and told police she had experienced bleeding a week before she had the stillbirth and was scheduled for prenatal care in Buenavista town which was the reason for her travel to Getafe.
