Sotto to remain Senate President

If no major shake up and political twist will occur ahead of the 18th Congress in July, Senator Tito Sotto will remain Senate President.

Senators gathered at Manny Pacquaio’s Makati residence Wednesday to discuss the issues on committee chairmanships and the fate of Senate Presidency over dinner, it was learned.

Senators present were Tito Sotto, Migz Zubiri, Manny Pacquiao, Ralph Recto, Sonny Angara, Joel Villanueva, and Nancy Binay. Outgoing Senators Loren Legarda and Gringo Honasan were also present.

Incoming Senators Imee Marcos, Francis Tolentino, Bong Go, Ronald Bato Dela Rosa, Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla Jr. were also in attendance.

Senator Grace Poe and Richard Gordon also attended but were late.

“Lista lista lang muna (ng committees) pero mukhang naayos na ni SP ang mga problema sa committees,” Zubiri said in a message to reporters.

When asked if Sotto will remain as Senate President Zubiri said, “Yes siya pa rin.” The current leadership also said they were able to get the commitment of those who attended the dinner.

Senator Cynthia Villar who was rumored to replace Sotto did not attend the dinner meeting.
