Over 200,000 job vacancies in the Philippines for Labor Day job fair

Close to 18,000 job vacancies in the government topped the list of openings up for grabs in the nationwide simultaneous job and business opportunities fair tomorrow, Labor Day, the labor department reported yesterday.

The vacancies form part of the 204,000 available local and overseas jobs being offered by over 1,000 agencies in 31 sites across the country, including the main TNK-Build Build Build-Jobs Jobs Jobs caravan at the Kingsborough International Convention Center in San Fernando City, Pampanga.

Openings for government jobs include positions for officers and non-uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, among other agencies of government.

Other local available jobs are mostly in services like customer service representative, machine operator, and in the field of construction under the Build Build Build program.

Also top vacancies are collection specialist, cashier, retail/sales agent, accounts specialist, service crew, utility staff, bagger, and skilled sewer.

For overseas placement, the vacancies include those for factory worker, nurse, machine operator, welder, house worker, waiter/waitress, baker, including English teachers for Thailand.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said the job is open to all those seeking employment.

“We are thankful to the companies for making available volumes of opportunities for our workers on Labor Day. We also expect other agencies of government needing manpower to join us,” Bello said.

Underscoring the need for construction workers, he said the sector has a high demand for these workers in projects under the Build Build Build infrastructure program of the Duterte administration.

The jobs caravan is a collaborative undertaking of DOLE, Department of Trade and Industry, and the Build Build Build agencies – the Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Transportation, Department of Finance, Department of Budget and Management, National Economic Development Authority, and the Bases Conversion Development Authority.

Other job and business fair sites are Ayala Mall South Park, Muntinlupa City; Vista Mall, Tuktukan, Taguig City; and City Social Hall and Sports Complex, Paranaque City in the National Capital Region.

In Luzon, the following are the TNK sites: Baguio City High School–Main Campus in the Cordillera Administrative Region; Magic Mall, Urdaneta City, Pangasinan; Robinsons Ilocos Norte Activity Center, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte; and Pangasinan PESO Compound, Lingayen, Pangasinan in Region 1; Cagayan Coliseum, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan in Region 2; Provincial Government of Bulacan (April 30); Provincial Government of Nueva Ecija; and Bocaue, Bulacan (May 2) in Region 3.

Also in Luzon, there will be job and business fair sites in CALABARZON at Pacific Mall, Lucena City, Quezon; and at Robinson’s Mall, Tejero, City of General Trias, Cavite (May 2); in MIMAROPA at Bulwagang Panlalawigan, Provincial Capitol Complex, Camilmil, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro; and at Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; and in Bicol Region at Pacific Mall, Legazpi City, Albay; at Municipal Hall, Oas, Albay; and at Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall and Vice Governor’s Office, Capitol Bldg., Kalipay, Masbate City.

Jobseekers in the Visayas region may visit the TNK sites in Robinson’s Place-Jaro, Iloilo City (Region 6); Trade Hall, SM City Cebu; Mandaue City Hall, Centro, Mandaue City; Social Hall, Cebu Provincial Capitol; and Main Atrium, Robinson’s Place, Calindagan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental (Region 7); and Tacloban Convention Center, Tacloban City; and Ormoc City Superdome, Ormoc City (Region 8).

In Mindanao, the identified job fair sites are in KCC Mall de Zamboanga (Region 9); The Atrium, Limketkai Mall, Cagayan de Oro City (Region 10); Gaisano Mall of Davao City (Region 11); KCC Convention and Events Center, General Santos City (Region 12); and Balanghai Hotel, Doongan Road, Butuan City (CARAGA).
