Man to spend 5 years in jail for biting police officer’s hand in Dubai

The Filipino who was accused of consuming drugs in Dubai has been sentenced to five years in prison after physically assaulting a police officer during his arrest.

According to records, the incident happened in July 2018 outside his residence in Al Quoz while the anti-narcotics police officer was taking him into custody, reported The National.

During the arrest, the Filipino, who was under the influence of two types of drugs, bit the officer’s hand before hitting the officer’s other hand in an attempt to escape.

Medical tests showed that the Filipino consumed crystal meth and amphetamine before the arrest.

The Filipino was arrested after another drug user who was arrested earlier confessed that he supplied him with the drugs.

Aside from jail term, he was also ordered to pay a fine of Dh20,000.

He will be deported after serving his jail term.

The Filipino will face another trial for consuming drugs.
