The overseas Filipina worker (OFW) who was paralyzed following a horrific car accident in Saudi has been brought back to the Philippines.
On a stretcher, paralyzed OFW Elvisa Salgado arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) six months after the accident that took the lives of her employers.
Following the accident, Salgado spent six months in a hospital to receive medical treatment for her injuries from her neck to her legs. However, she has been paralyzed since.
“Masaya po ako at nagpapasalamat sa ating Panginoon dahil sa pagbibigay ng pagkakataon na makasama ko pa ang aking pamilya,” Salgado told GMA News.
Welfare officer Yolanda Peñaranda from the Overseas Workers Welfare Adaninistration (OWWA) said that the OFW will receive insurance benefits from the government.
Venecio Legaspi, director general of OFW Council of Leaders, also thanked Salgado’s recruitment agency for their assistance.
“Dalangin namin na sana’y makalakad kang muli at makapamuhay ng normal Elvie,” Legaspi said.
