An Arab man was arrested in Saudi Arabia after allegedly raping an overseas Filipina worker (OFW) for five times.
According to the Filipina, who goes by the moniker “Lina”, the man was one of the employees of the recruitment agency that assisted her after she escaped her employers in Saudi, reported GMA News.
The man brought her to a hotel and promised her that she will be transferred to another employer. While at the hotel, however, she was raped by the man.
He was later on arrested after the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) learned about the incident and instructed Lina to bring the Arab man to the Consulate.
The alleged rapist attempted to escape the office but was apprehended by the diplomatic guards who brought him to the police.
Vice Consul Lemuel Lopez, head of the Assistance to National desk at the Consulate, also wrote a letter explaining the situation and sent it to the authorities to ensure the arrest of the Arab man.
Labor Attache Nasser Munder said that the recruitment agency’s accreditation will be cancelled and that the OFW will be taken care of.
