Another ‘super tall tower’ soon to rise in Dubai

Dubai is set to be the home of another “super tall tower”, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) announced.

DMCC, the world’s flagship Free Zone and Government of Dubai Authority, and master developer of Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), announced on Sunday, January 13, that a contract was awarded to Belhasa Six Construct (BESIX) to build the first super tall tower in Uptown Dubai district.

Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC, said that the tower, which will be named the Uptown Tower, will be a 78-storey building and would give visitors a view of Dubai’s skyline.

“Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, Uptown Tower replicates the brilliance of diamonds through its faceted glass façade that illuminates the interior spaces with natural light while filtering out harsh glare,” DMCC said.

Meanwhile, Olivier Crasson, General Manager, BESIX Contracting Middle East said that the company is excited to give residents in the emirate an “inspiring new destination” adding that the Uptown Dubai district is an exciting location for the new tower.
