NAIA worker returns bag with Php120,000

A worker at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) returned a pouch stashed with cash amounting to Php120,000 and other important items.

NAIA staff Judith Mertola, an employee of Lucky Jet Travel and Tours, returned the pouch of Korean tourist Hwang Sung Ha who left his belongings at the UBE Express counter at the arrival area of NAIA Terminal 1, reported Manila Standard.

Inside the pouch was cash in different currencies amounting to Php120,000 and two personal cards.

Mertola immediately surrendered the pouch to the Intelligence and Investigation Division-Lost and Found Section of the Manila International Airport Authority which then helped contact the Korean tourist.

When the authorities were not able to contact the tourist’s mobile number, however, they waited for him to check in for his return flight on November 26 to return his pouch.

The tourist was thankful that his pouch was returned and promised to return to the Philippines because of the experience.

Mertola, meanwhile, was commended for her honesty and other NAIA staff were called to follow her honest gesture.
