New Dh100 bills with security features to be in circulation starting Oct. 30

The UAE Central Bank revealed on Sunday, October 28, the new Dh100 note which is set to be circulated starting Tuesday, October 30.

The new currency bill has enhanced security features which can all be found in the front side, reported The National.

Among its new features is a color-changing hologram that when tilted, the color can shift from green to blue and can show the note’s value in the bottom left corner.

The existing security thread has also been replaced with an advanced Galaxy three-dimensional security thread.

On the bottom right of the bill, the denomination value “100” has been removed while the the original silver foil design has been replaced with the so-called “intaglio overprint.”

The overall look of the note is largely unchanged where the picture of Dubai’s Al Fahidi Fort can still be seen on one side. The other still shows an image of the World Trade Centre.

“The overall design and other specifications of the currency note remain the same as the current currency notes in circulation,” a statement from the Central Bank of the UAE said.

“This currency note will be put in circulation as legal tender, along with the Dh100 denomination currency notes currently in circulation.”
