PH inks 10 bilateral agreements with European countries for student exchange program

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Officer-in-Charge Dr. Prospero de Vera III urged Filipino students to grab the chance to study abroad and engage in greater student mobility.

CHED also announced that the Philippines has signed 52 educational agreements with 38 countries, including 10 bilateral agreements with European countries, including Hungary, Spain, France, Poland, Czech Republic, Turkey, Estonia, and Romania.

In his message during the opening ceremony of this year’s European Higher Education Fair (EHEF), de Vera encouraged Filipino students to study abroad to be globally competitive, to acquire new ideas and strategies, to expand their “cultural and intellectual horizons” and to help them decide in their job prospects.

In his message, de Vera is keen to give life to their visions of strengthening the internationalization of higher education and to further develop a more competitive human resource to sustain increased economic development in the Philippines.

“It is clear that for every Filipino who leaves for abroad, his or her worldview automatically changes, as they learn new cultures, as they work with students of different nationalities, but more importantly, as they test themselves among the best in the world. And when they come back, they are never the same again,” De Vera explained.

He also said that the commission will offer several scholarships and grants for Filipino graduate students who have dreams of studying abroad.
