More Filipino words have been included in the Oxford English Dictionary (OED).
In a statement, the OED 2018 edition included 1,400 words, senses, and phrases. Some of which are derived from the Filipino language.
One of the words added to the dictionary is the widely used Filipino expression “bongga”, which OED defined as “extravagant, flamboyant, impressive, stylish, or (more generally) excellent”.
Another Filipino word that was included on the list is “trapo”, which OED considered as an example of “multilingualism of the Philippines”.
