Residential building burns down in Ajman

A residential building Liwara 2 area in Ajman burned down on Saturday, September 29.

The civil defense teams in Ajman and Sharjah were able to control the fire without any casualties reported.

It was not clear how the 12-storey residential building first caught fire. However, the Ajman civil defense said in a report that the fire started at the back part of the building.

Several officers coordinated the fire-fighting operations including Major General Jassem Mohammed al-Marzouqi, commander of civil defense at the Ministry of Interior and Director General of Civil Defense Ajman Brigadier Abdulaziz Ali Al Shamsi.

According to Brigadier Ali al-Shamsi, they received the report of the fire on Saturday afternoon. They dispatched firefighters who evacuated the residents in the building.

He added that the fire was controlled within two hours of time, and then cooled down so as not to reignite the fire.

Al Shamsi reminded owners of residential and commercial towers to adhere to the requirements of preventive safety by following up the regular maintenance of fire alarms to avoid fires and maintain the safety of the residents.
