The Abu Dhabi Police arrested five members of a gang for stealing electric cables from the construction sites of a private company.
The Division of Combating Robbery in the Department of Criminal Investigation and Security Sector managed to catch the perpetrators after they threatened to beat the security guard in the construction site.
Colonel Amran Ahmed al-Mazrouei, Acting Director of the Directorate, said in a report that the electric wires were stolen because the construction site is not properly secured.
The preliminary investigation showed that the gang operates at night using different paraphernalias to cut electric cables and sells it to dealers in the industrial areas in Abu Dhabi.
All of them admitted to the crime during the interrogation. They were referred to the public prosecution for the legal proceedings.
