Dubai tourist arrested after using fake credit card to pay bills

A European tourist on vacation was nabbed by the Dubai Police for using a fake credit card to settle his hotel bills and escaping its premises.

The man incurred Dh 135,000 from staying several days at the hotel, which he tried to pay with the fake credit card. When the card was rejected, the tourist refused to pay and escaped from the hotel, reported Al Khaleej.

Colonel Omar bin Hammad, Director of the Department of Economic Crimes Investigation, formed a search team upon receiving the hotel’s report. They found the man in another hotel which also reported the man for booking a room using a forged credit card.

The police arrested the man in his hotel room where he confessed to owning several forged credit cards. He also admitted to scamming people by telling them they have won a prize.

Currently, the European tourist is facing charges of evading payment and use of fraudulent cards.
