A commercial center and recreational park specifically for blue-collar workers is set to open in Sharjah, the Sharjah Labour Standards Development Authority (LSDA) announced.
The Commercial Centre and the Labour Recreational Park in Sharjah’s Al Sajaa Industrial Area will be the first of its kind in the UAE and will provide different services and amenities such as hypermarket, a hospital, and more than 80 retail stores. The Commercial Center will also have three cinema halls which can accomodate more than 1,100 people.
The Recreational Park, meanwhile, will have green areas, barbecue spaces, an open theatre, cricket grounds and basketball and volleyball courts.
Salem Yousef Al Qaseer, Chairman of LSDA, said that the move was in response to the call of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to ensure that the welfare of workers, particularly blue-collar workers, are taken care of.
