Filipino bankers, freelancers, and other workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will have a long time to rest after the Gulf State announced that there will be a nine-day holiday for Eid Al Adha.
According to the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), Eid Al Adha holiday for banks, financing companies, insurance firms and entrepreneurs in Saudi Arabia will begin on Friday, August 17. Work will then resume on Sunday, August 26.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) also said that trading activities will be suspended from August 19 until August 36 in observance of the Eid holiday.
Meanwhile, there is still no official announcement in the UAE regarding Eid Al Adha. However, the Sharjah Centre for Space and Astronomy earlier predicted that the first day of Eid Al Adha will fall on August 22, giving workers in the UAE a possible 5-day holiday.
Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Deputy Director of the Sharjah Centre for Space and Astronomy, previously explained that astronomical calculations show that August 12, Sunday, will be the 30th of Zhil Qi’da which means August 13 will be the first day of Zhil Hijjah.
Arafat Day, which historically marks the first day of the Eid Al Adha holiday, happens on the ninth day of Zhil Hijjah which will fall on August 21, Tuesday. This means that Eid Al Adha will fall on the next day, August 22, Wednesday.
If it happens, workers in the UAE will enjoy a five-day long weekend as the UAE government has previously announced a one-day holiday in celebration of Arafat Day and three-day holiday for Eid Al Adha.
