A Dubai court heard the case of a 29-year-old Dubai resident who was accused of rape by a Filipina he took on a date on December 10 last year.
The 33-year-old Filipina complainant told the Dubai Court of First Instance that the defendant, who she met through a friend last year, sent her a message via WhatsApp inviting her to a barbecue party at the desert with his friends, reported Khaleej Times.
She initially declined the offer but decided to meet him for coffee at around 11:00 PM that day. When they got together, the man took her to a desert location where they were joined by three other men and one woman.
When the companions of the accused left at around 3:00 in the morning, she asked the man to take her back home but the latter insisted for her to stay with him for a little while.
In the car, the accused jumped on her and forcibly took off her clothes, and raped her. The Filipina sustained bruises all over her body, as per medical reports.
The defendant pleaded not guilty saying that the sexual encounter was consensual.
The trial is set to resume on September 3.
