That’s areglo: Pinoy traffic enforcer extorts from foreigner

A traffic enforcer is being bashed on Facebook after netting P2,000 from a foreigner.

A netizen named Ernalyn Gacosta Eugenio posted the video of their encounter on Facebook. She was being driven around by her supposed foreigner boyfriend when their car was hailed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) traffic enforcer, and said that they were violating the number coding system.

Dubbed now in social media as Boy 2K, the traffic enforcer is yet to be identified. His extortion act has been viewed over 1 million times.

The act of his corruption drew the ire of netizens.

However, others also criticized the driver because they used the car despite the number coding policy.

“Kung kukunin ko po lisensya niyo, tutubusin niyo pa ho sa city hall,” the officer says in the viral video.

Meanwhile, Eugenio explains to her companion that if they encounter the same situation in another place, they just have to show the ticket.

“Thank you, sir,” she tells to the enforcer as a manner of saying goodbye but was interrupted by the MMDA officer who asks them to pay for the ticket.

Wanting to keep their license, they hand P2,000 which the cop hid in between his ticket book. The foreigner asked where is the receipt but the enforcer did not address the question.

“It doesn’t say here that I gave you 2,000,” the foreigner said while reading the ticket.

“Aregluhan po maam, yun, kung okay lang, sabi ko di ba? para di na po siya pupunta ng city hall para magbayad,” the enforcer answers.

In the video, the couple can be heard negotiating the payment, but gave in and drove away disappointed.

TFT contacted Eugenio but has not received any response.
