Dubai Police reveal 5 most dangerous roads

The Dubai Traffic Department of Dubai Police released the list of five most dangerous roads in the emirate of Dubai based on the number of fatalities from accidents reported during the first half of the year.

There were 1,250 major traffic accidents booked across the UAE. The accidents took the lives of 76 people while 884 others sustained injuries.

The police force added that the number of fatalities from traffic accidents remained the same compared to the same period of last year while the number of traffic accidents decreased.

Among the most dangerous roads in the UAE are as follows:

1. Emirates Road (30 serious traffic accidents, 14 fatalities)
2. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (72 traffic accidents, 8 fatalities)
3. Sheikh Zayed Road (69 major traffic accidents, 8 fatalities)
4. Dubai-Al Ain Road (26 serious accidents, 4 fatalities)
5. Al Khail Road (34 traffic accidents, 3 fatalities)

Dubai Police said that 822 traffic accidents involved collision between vehicles, 212 were car crashes, while 163 were cases of runovers.

Accidents involving sudden swerving were the most deadly, claiming the lives of 23 people. Meanwhile, accidents due to failure to keep a safe distance between vehicles killed 15 people.

On Monday, July, 16, three were killed while eight others sustained injuries in a crash in Dubai, involving a minibus and a truck after failing to “maintain a safe distance” between each other.
