Missing wallet of OFW stashed with Php93,000 found after 7 months

After seven months, the missing wallet of an overseas Filipina worker (OFW) with Php93,000 inside has been returned on Wednesday, June 20, after it was found at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2.

Marilyn Vallada, who is working in Japan, lost her wallet at the airport seven months ago. Stashed with Philippine peso and Japanese yen amounting to Php93,000, the OFW had already lost hope that the wallet would ever be found.

To her surprise, she received a phone call from the staff of NAIA Assistant General Manager Arnulfo Junio of the Lost and Found section informing her that her wallet, including the money inside it, had been found at the airport.

The wallet was returned to Vallada shortly after. The OFW recalled that she arrived at the airport in November 2017 and went to the restroom before heading home to her province in Nueva Ecija. It was only when she arrived home that she discovered her wallet missing.

Meanwhile, Junio said airport staff do their best to return all items left by passengers at the airport.

In Vallada’s case, she was tracked through the Philippine Airlines ticketing office. The money would have been surrendered to the government if Vallada was not traced.
