3 Asian expats in Ajman arrested for planting marijuana

Three Asian farm workers in Ajman have been arrested after police found cultivated marijuana plants hidden in the farm of their employer.

Officers from Ajman Police raided the farm and found five marijuana plants in the area. The three admitted that they had indeed planted them intended for selling.

The UAE, which has a zero-tolerance policy on drug-related offences, has one of the strictest
drug laws in the world. Individuals caught exporting, manufacturing, extracting, or producing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances will be imprisoned for a period of not less than seven years or may face possible deportation.

Major-General Shaikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Commander-in-Chief of Ajman Police, praised the Anti-Narcotic Department of Ajman Police for the recent arrest of the marijuana traffickers.
