Global confidence on US down — survey

The world’s confidence in the United States has dropped since its leader, President Donald Trump, took office in January, according to a survey of Pew Research released on Tuesday.

Residents from 37 nations across the world were the respondents to the survey that asked their views on the U.S. leader.

In Mexico, only 5 percent of those surveyed said they trusted Trump as a world leader.

Mexican immigrants were insulted by the US president during the election season last year.

Israel and Russia had more confidence on Trump compared to former US president Barack Obama.

Confidence in the US has dropped from Obama’s average of 64 percent to 49 percent in recent months since Trump assumed office.

Majority of the respondents still have positive views of Americans as well as US films and music.
