The foreign ministry of Bahrain has accused Doha of escalating the diplomatic crisis in the Gulf by bringing in Turkish troops and armored vehicles in Qatar.
On a Twitter post, Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said, “The foundation of the dispute with Qatar is diplomatic and security-oriented, never military. Bringing in foreign armies and their armoured vehicles is the military escalation that Qatar has created.
The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt have temporarily severed diplomatic and economic relations with Qatar over Doha’s alleged support for Islamist and extremist groups.
Turkey, Qatar’s strategic ally, reportedly sent 23 military service members and five armored vehicles to Doha on Thursday.
Turkey also opened a military base in Qatar last year.
