Marines fighting Maute terrorists in Marawi found P79 million in cash and checks in a house in the city believed to have been used by the militants as a hideout.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) have joined the investigation that aims to determine where the P52.2 million cash and P27 million worth of checks found in the house came from.
Investigators are also trying to determine the owner of the house where the cash and checks in plastic bundles were recovered.
BSP Deputy Governor Nestor Espenilla Jr. told reporters the markings in the banknotes can help trace the source of funds.
