Fresh from their scoreless draw with China, the Philippine Azkals clinched their second victory at the FiFA World Cup Qualifiers defeating Maldives, 2-1 yesterday.
Azkals is set to compete with Syria in Dubai on Tuesday next week.
Iain Ramsay’s and Patrick Strauss’ second half goals against Maldives secured the Azkals their maximum points as they continue on their road to qualification at the World Cup.
The Philippine team had a difficult time at first against Maldives, but the latter was peppered with Filipino defense shots.
Strauss and Ramsay joined forces on the left side at the 52nd minute. The Philippines doubled up their lead in the 70th minute.
Following this victory the Philippines has secured its third place in Group A of the FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.
