Popular Pinoy desserts made more delicious with Rainbow Milk

Filipinos, no matter where they are in the world, usually find something in common when it comes to food – their love of the world famous Pinoy Halo-Halo! This, as well as other popular Filipino desserts, can be richer and creamier with the right milk product, such as Rainbow Milk here in the UAE.

Here are a few of the most sought-after Filipino desserts that can taste a lot better with Rainbow Milk:

Halo-Halo
One reason why many Filipinos are fond of this mix and match of colorful sweet ingredients is because many Filipinos practically grew up with it as it was either served and sold by their friendly neighbor on the street, or they were the ones who were actually selling it!

Recipe:
2 cups Rainbow Milk’s Evaporated Milk
2 cups of shaved ice
1 cup of sweetened bananas
1 cup young shredded coconut, fresh or bottled
1/2 cup sweet corn or chickpeas (garbanzos)
1 cup firm gelatin, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 cup ripe jackfruit
1 cup cooked sweet yams or (ube halaya)
Leche flan slices
4 scoops of favorite ice cream
1/2 cup rice pop

Steps:
– Divide each ingredient into four tall glasses, except for the ice, milk, leche flan, ube halaya, and ice cream.
– Put one half of shaved ice on each glass.
– Pour half a cup of Rainbow Milk’s Evaporated Milk on top of the ice in each glass.
– Place a few slices of leche flan, a spoonful of ube halaya and a scoop of ice cream on top.
– Place a few rice crispies on top as desired.

Graham Float
A sweet treat perfect for any occasion, Graham Floats in its many versions have become quite a hit among Filipinos due to its mix-match-chill-serve easiness in preparations.

Recipe:
2 cups all-purpose cream
1 ¾ cup of Rainbow Milk’s Condensed milk, very cold
18 pieces graham crackers
1 can of fruit cocktail, drained well

Steps:
– Mix Rainbow Milk’s Condensed Milk with the all-purpose cream and stir using a hand mixer a low speed until the mixture thickens. Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat for around 10 minutes or until the mixture is double in volume.
– Add a layer of graham crackers in an 8 x 8 dish.
– Place 1/3 of the cream mixture on top and spread to cover all areas.
– Put your drained fruit cocktail on top of the cream.
– Continue placing layers until the pan is full, cover with plastic film tightly and refrigerate overnight.
– Cut into squares and serve.

A staple in many Filipino gatherings, the Leche Flan is a Filipino’s own version of what the rest of the world knows as pudding. Served chilled in classic llaneras, this Filipino treat is well-loved by people of all ages with its simple yet satisfyingly great taste!

Recipe:
1 cup Rainbow Milk’s Condensed Milk
1 cup Rainbow Milk’s Evaporated Milk
10 pieces of eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:
– Separate egg yolks from egg whites – only the yolks will be used for the recipe.
– Combine your beaten egg yolks with Rainbow Milk’s delicious duo: Rainbow Milk’s Evaporated Milk and Rainbow Milk’s Condensed Milk, along with your vanilla extract.
– Set up your llaneras with sugars over a stove on low heat until the white sugars slowly turn into liquids and become golden brown in color. Spread the liquid sugar evenly on the mold. Remove from the stove.
– After five minutes, place the mixture of the egg yolks and milk on the mold. Cover the top with an aluminum foil.
– Steam your llaneras with the mixture for around 35 minutes.
– Let the temperatures cool down, after which you may refrigerate the leche flans. Serve chilled.
