Political commentator Jesus Falcis on Friday questioned Vice President Sara Duterte’s lack of public statements on recent developments in the West Philippine Sea, including China’s actions against the Philippines.
In an interview, Falcis said he had not heard any statement from Duterte on issues such as China’s alleged anti-Filipino propaganda, water cannon incidents and the provisional understanding between Manila and Beijing.
“Wala pa akong naririnig na statement mula sa ating Vice President Sara Duterte, na mahilig maglabas ng statement sa mga iba-ibang okasyon,” Falcis said.
“And yet dito sa racist video na unggoy, dito sa water cannoning, dito sa provisional understanding, aba! Tahimik ang ating pangalawang pangulo,” he added.
Falcis also questioned why Duterte had not addressed the issues despite recently releasing a statement marking National Disaster Resilience Week.
“E bakit? Nasa The Hague o nasa Qatar, nasa London, may world tour? Mag-statement ka naman, Vice President,” he said.
He later remarked, “Anong koneksyon naman n’on sa water cannoning?” in reference to Duterte’s statement on disaster resilience.
Vice President Duterte has not publicly responded to Falcis’ remarks.
