Pag-IBIG releases ₱5.82B in SAFE Loans to 803,000 members

Pag-IBIG Fund has released ₱5.82 billion in loans to 803,769 members under its Special Assistance for Financial Emergencies (SAFE) Loan program in less than six weeks since its launch on June 10.

The agency said the strong uptake of the SAFE Loan reflects its efforts to provide immediate and affordable financial assistance to Filipino workers facing economic pressures brought about by the continuing tensions in the Middle East.

The program was launched in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive for government agencies to deliver more responsive services to Filipino workers.

“President Marcos has called on government agencies to make services more responsive to the needs of Filipino workers. In line with this call, Pag-IBIG Fund is providing ready and affordable financial assistance through the SAFE Loan, especially as the continuing tensions in the Middle East create financial challenges that are being felt by our members and their families,” said Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon P. Aliling, who also chairs the Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees.

Under the SAFE Loan program, active Pag-IBIG members with at least 12 monthly savings may borrow up to ₱10,000 or up to 90 percent of their total Pag-IBIG Regular Savings, whichever is lower. Eligible members must also have no existing loan defaults with the agency.

The loan carries an interest rate of 5.95 percent per annum and may be repaid over 12, 24 or 36 months. Borrowers are also granted a three-month grace period before monthly repayments begin.

Applications may be submitted online through the Virtual Pag-IBIG portal by uploading a completed application form, one valid government-issued ID, and a selfie while holding the same ID. Members may also apply at any Pag-IBIG Fund branch nationwide. Approved loan proceeds are credited directly to the member’s Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus or Land Bank Cash Card.

Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene C. Acosta said the agency remains committed to helping members address both their immediate and long-term financial needs.

“Pag-IBIG Fund is here to help our members in every way we can. In support of President Marcos’ call to provide aid to Filipino workers in need, we are providing ready and affordable financial assistance through the SAFE Loan. At the same time, we continue to help members achieve homeownership through housing loans offered at rates below market,” Acosta said.

She added that members who require additional financial assistance may also avail themselves of the agency’s Multi-Purpose Loan, provided they still have a remaining loanable amount based on their Pag-IBIG Regular Savings.

The SAFE Loan program will remain open for applications until Sept. 8, 2026.
