The UAE Ministry of Interior has warned the public against fraudulent social media accounts impersonating vehicle insurance companies and offering fake insurance policies at unusually low prices.
In an advisory, the ministry said scammers are creating fake accounts that advertise insurance services at highly attractive prices to persuade victims to make advance payments for policies that do not exist.
The ministry urged residents to verify that insurance companies and brokers are properly licensed before making any payments.
Authorities also advised the public to purchase insurance only through approved digital platforms and licensed insurance providers operating in the UAE.
The ministry further warned motorists to be cautious of deals that appear too good to be true and to avoid responding to misleading advertisements and promotional offers.
The advisory forms part of the UAE government’s campaign to raise awareness about online fraud as scammers increasingly use social media to target residents with fake financial and insurance schemes.
The ministry encouraged the public to report suspicious accounts and refrain from sharing personal or payment information with unverified sources.
