Dubai Customs prepares for 3 million travelers during summer rush

Dubai Customs has stepped up its operational readiness ahead of the peak summer travel season, with about three million passengers expected to pass through Dubai’s airports during the first half of July.

The agency said it has activated an integrated operational plan with Dubai Airports and other government partners to ensure smooth passenger movement while maintaining customs security.

Dubai Customs said it operates 19 advanced baggage screening systems and 77 inspection and detection systems across the emirate’s airport terminals to increase processing capacity during the travel surge.

Officials also said baggage screening time in manual inspection areas has been reduced to about seven seconds per bag, helping shorten waiting times while maintaining inspection accuracy.

To assist travelers, Dubai Customs continues to provide guidance on duty-free allowances, reminding passengers they may bring gifts worth up to AED3,000 without paying customs duties, provided the items are for personal use and not intended for commercial purposes.

The agency also announced plans to establish dedicated pet inspection rooms at Terminals 1, 2 and 3 to improve veterinary inspection services for passengers traveling with pets.

Dubai Customs said the measures are part of its efforts to improve the passenger experience while supporting the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and strengthening the emirate’s position as a global tourism and business hub.
