A 41-year-old Filipina bound for Dubai was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 after authorities discovered she had an outstanding warrant of arrest for alleged illegal recruitment and estafa.
According to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), the woman was intercepted on July 5 during immigration screening after the Bureau of Immigration’s system flagged an active warrant against her.
Personnel from the NAIA Police Station 3 verified the information and coordinated with the Manila Police District (MPD) Warrant and Subpoena Section, which subsequently implemented the warrant and formally arrested the passenger at the airport.
The suspect is facing charges of large-scale and syndicated illegal recruitment under Republic Act No. 8042, or the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995, as amended by Republic Act No. 10022. The offense is non-bailable.
She also faces an estafa case in relation to Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, with recommended bail set at ₱30,000.
The woman is now under the custody of the Manila Police District for documentation and further legal proceedings.
PNP AVSEGROUP Director Police Brigadier General Dionisio Bartolome Jr. said authorities will continue efforts to track down wanted individuals and ensure they face the appropriate legal process.
“We continue to strengthen our campaign against wanted persons to ensure that those facing cases are brought before the proper process of law,” Bartolome said in Filipino.
