The Department of Migrant Workers has distributed ₱1.09 million in reintegration assistance to 62 returning overseas Filipino workers in the Caraga region through its teaching and livelihood programs.
During a distribution ceremony in Butuan City on July 6, the DMW provided assistance under its Sa Pinas, Ikaw ang Ma’am at Sir (SPIMS) and Enhanced Livelihood Program for OFW Reintegration (ELPOR) initiatives.
Thirty-two former OFWs who are now regular teachers with the Department of Education received teaching kits worth ₱20,000 each, for a total of ₱640,000. The grants will be used to purchase laptops, printers and other classroom materials.
Another 30 returning OFWs received livelihood grants worth ₱15,000 each, totaling ₱450,000, to help them start or expand small businesses.
Before the distribution, beneficiaries took part in a Kumustahan Session, where they shared their experiences of working overseas and their transition back to life in the Philippines.
DMW Caraga Regional Director Ritchel M. Butao said the agency remains committed to helping returning OFWs rebuild their lives by supporting employment, entrepreneurship and family reintegration.
