The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Tuesday urged motorists to avoid both the northbound and southbound lanes of EDSA as heavy traffic persisted due to the gathering of Iglesia ni Cristo members near the People Power Monument.
The MMDA said traffic on the northbound lane has significantly slowed because of protesters and vehicles parked along White Plains Avenue.
On the southbound lane, traffic congestion has already extended as far as Main Avenue, the agency added.
The MMDA advised motorists to take alternate routes to avoid the affected areas.
Several schools near the rally site also suspended in-person classes and shifted to online learning through Wednesday because of the traffic situation.
Meanwhile, the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 said it remains fully operational to accommodate commuters affected by the road congestion.
