SSS signs partnership to expand OFW coverage in Saudi Arabia

The Social Security System has signed a memorandum of understanding with the OFW Council of Leaders to expand social security coverage among overseas Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia and their families.

The agreement, signed on June 22, is part of the SSS’ efforts to increase membership among OFWs in the Middle East, the state pension fund said in a statement Tuesday.

The memorandum was signed by OFW Council of Leaders Director-General Mofiedah Daknash and SSS Vice President for Asia, Americas and Pacific Operations Division Paul Erik Manalo.

Under the agreement, more than 100 Filipino community leaders in Saudi Arabia will help encourage migrant workers to register as SSS members and secure social protection benefits for themselves and their families.

The SSS said the partnership marks a milestone as the OFW Council of Leaders becomes the first Filipino community network in the Middle East to formalize an agreement with the agency to promote its programs and services.
